Reproductions

Reproductions at the National Music Museum are instruments copied or based on a specific historic instrument, one that is known and identified, or contemporary instruments of historical type. Some instruments are part of what can be considered historical revival movements, where the intent was to capture the aesthetic of a past time in sound or visual form, with or without fidelity to the original period. This group includes a broad range of instrument types, among them brass and woodwinds, strings, keyboards, and accessories. These instruments represent not only historical reproductions, but also the work of contemporary master makers.
