DescriptionBrass, hand-hammered bell, bell interior and area below engraving burnished, nickel silver (ferrules and outer slides, braces, finger hook and water key), mother-of-pearl inlay (finger buttons and knobs), single loop, main tuning slide at first bow with quick-change to A push rod, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), top-sprung, spring outside hollow stem, alignment by connecting bar protruding as two lugs (one side marked with cross), nickel-silver-plated brass pistons, curved (trombone-type) single water keys at main tuning slide and third valve slide, windway 3-2-1.
F. E. Olds & Son's early trumpets were custom made, and this instrument appears to be among them. It resembles the “Olds Trumpet” from a 1929 catalog, but has a hand-hammered bell, a feature that was only available from the 1930s onwards.
