DescriptionBrass, German silver, double loop, bell front, tuning slide at narrow second bow after valve section, three rotary valves (1, ½, 1½), horseshoe stop, clock-spring return.
Fritz Horst was a maker and dealer of brass instruments. He established his workshop in 1885 and is recorded until 1934. Therefore, the present tenor horn could either have been made by Horst, following a model by Moritz in Berlin, or it could have been produced in Saxony and just sold by Horst in Altona. Wide-bore bass trumpets or tenor horns were preferred in Dresden for performances of works of Richard Wagner and others.
