DescriptionSolid silver, one straight conical tube with tab seam and slightly flaring bell. Mouthpiece soldered to instrument; no backbore.
Typical English fox-hunting horn, made by the goldsmith Samuel Whitford (1818-after 1891), who entered the initials "SW" at the London Goldsmith's Hall in 1856. The horn was made in 1869 or 1870 according to the shape of the date letter "O".
