DescriptionBrass, shank for D and crook for C, both can be pulled out for the lower pitch of a1 = 415 Hz and are fixed at the leadpipe by a wing screw. Amado water key at first bow.

This model was developed by Edward H. Tarr in collaboration with the firm Meinl & Lauber in Geretsried in 1967, originally as strict copy, and then in 1970 with added vent holes. The bell profile and single-loop design is based on an original natural trumpet by Wolf Wilhelm Haas in the Bernoulli Collection at the Historisches Museum Basel. This “Modell Tarr” trumpet is equipped with four large holes at the back bow, one each for four different pitches, D (a1 = 440 and 415 Hz) and C (a1 = 440 and 415 Hz), equaling the transposing hole of the Helmut Finke/Otto Steinkopf “clarino trumpet.” When opening a hole, the harmonic series is transposed a fourth higher. Therefore the out-of-une 11th and 13th harmonics are replaced by the 8th and 10th harmonics, which are both in tune. Only one of the four holes is in use at any given time for one of the four pitches, while the other three vent-holes are closed up with rubber stoppers.
