Stamped on first valve case: 167DescriptionBrass body, German-silver touchpieces; single coil; narrow U-shaped tuning slide after valve section; fixed leadpipe; three top-action string-operated rotary valves, horseshoe stop, spiral-spring return.Replica of a typical Civil-War-era E-flat circular cornet, offered for example by the Martin Brothers and Moses Slater in New York City. Decorative features, such as the brace with scroll, are taken over from those and other New York makers.
