DescriptionBrass, German-silver (ferrules, valve parts, finger hook, pull ring, knob), straight, detachable bell with tuning slide and ligature screw, four mechanical-linkage rotary valves lowering the pitch by a whole tone, semitone, minor third, and fourth, horseshoe stop, coil-spring return, windway 1-2-3-4.
Helmut Finke started the production of this straight high B-flat piccolo trumpet (Hoch-B-Trompete) in 1959. The straight shape was intended to imitate the looks of the baroque natural trumpet superficially. Previously, Finke had been instrumental in the invention of other trumpets for the performance of baroque repertoire, most notably the “Clarintrompete,” a coiled natural trumpet with vent holes (see NMM 3546).
