DescriptionGerman-silver body and brass bell (not original), circular bow, double loop, tuning slide at narrow second bow, removable shank, four side-action (lever under) string-operated rotary valves (1, ½, 1½ for rh., quick-change to A for left hand), stop arm, flat-spring return, windway: 3-2-1-4.
German silver B-flat tuning shank; German-silver lyre.
Attribution of this cornet to Isaac Fiske is based mainly on comparison with other instruments by this maker. For example, the flat-spring return at the valves is a distinguishing characteristic. Fiske advertised a similar three-valve circular-bow cornet model in a catalog from 1868. The signature is lost because the brass bell is a replacement.
