DescriptionSilver- and gold-plated brass, mother-of-pearl finger buttons, double loop, quick-change to A with stop rod (missing) at first bow, main tuning slide at narrow third bow, fixed leadpipe, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), top-sprung, spring inside hollow stem, alignment by two unequal lugs on spring anchor plate, pistons nickel-plated brass, single water keys on tuning slides, windway 3-2-1.
The stamp PATENT PENDING on the quick-change slide refers to US patent 1,005,972, for which Frank Holton applied on March 9, 1908. It was granted on October 17, 1911, for a compact wrap of both, the quick-change and main tuning slides in front of the third valve loop, resulting in a longer bell portion. This gave the instrument an elongated shape in new proportions, hence the model name.
