This instrument can be dated based on the address mentioned in the signature, in which the Thibouville-Lamy premises were housed in 1900. It was intended as a fanfare trumpet with two valves or as natural trumpet. However, only the tuning slide with the two-valve section survives, while the tuning slide without valves is lost. The loops for banner attachment hint at military or parade use.
E. Guilbaut patented the “embouchure rayée” (grooved mouthpiece) in 1889, stating that it would improve the precision of the attack.
