DescriptionThe origin of the bow is unknown. See NMM 10,550, a violin bow with similar grooves on the handle to guide the frog.
Stick: octagonal; brazilwood with clear, flaking varnish; uneven faceting at handle; visible tool marks on back of head
Head: square outline to leading edge
Handle: original U-shaped graft, with brazilwood dowels running through stick to secure; grooves each edge of underside with rectangular area left at center to guide frog

Adjuster: missing
Tip plate: ivory; does not extend up nose
