Description5 sections: barrel, top joint, middle joint, bottom joint, bell. Simple system; 6 brass keys with square, flat covers, mounted in blocks, with springs attached to keys; sixth key is for trill in English style; boxwood body; ivory ferrules.
Goulding first went into business on his own in 1785. Between 1798-1823, he was in various partnerships with Phipps, D'Almaine, Potter, and Wood, but the name of the firm still often appeared simply as Goulding & Co. It was not until 1823 that the firm became known as Goulding & D'Almaine.
