DescriptionGerman-silver, circular bow, double loop, tuning slide at narrow second bow, fixed leadpipe, three side-action (lever over) string-operated rotary valves (1, ½, 1½), stop arm, spiral-spring return.

Moses Slater (1826-1899) was in partnership with Godfrey Robert Martin (c. 1835-c. 1900), trading under the name of “Slater & Martin,” from 1869 to 1871. Slater offered this cornet model as "orchestra model, short pattern" in a catalog of 1874. The wide leadpipe of this instrument requires either a sleeve for a cornet mouthpiece or cornet-size shanks and crooks.
