The flicorno sopranino is the smallest size of the Italian valved bugle family. Most prominent producer was Pelitti in Milan. The firm A. Rampone, maker of this instrument, received many patents for woodwinds, but none for brass instruments; therefore, the mention SISTEMA CON PRIVILEGIO appears to be merely an advertisement vehicle. In catalog no. 253 by Ditte Reunite A. Rampone & B. Cazzani, published in Milan in 1928, this particular instrument model is listed as type 2 (that is with engraved touchpieces and top screws) of the "flicorno sopranino in Mib o Cornettino Mib." The stamp A. Rampone was used long after Rampone officially amalgamated with watchmaker Giovan Battista Cazzani in 1920.
