MarkingsStamped on rotor spindle tops, respectively: 1, 2, 3, and 6 (fourth valve).
DescriptionSilver-plated brass, circular bow, double loop, tuning slide at narrow second bow, fixed leadpipe, four side-action (lever over) string-operated rotary valves (1, ½, 1½ for right hand, quick-change to A for left hand), double cork, spiral-spring return, Windway: 3-2-1-4.
Silver-plated brass cornet mouthpiece (contemporary with the instrument).
This 4½-foot B-flat cornet with quick-change valve to 5-foot A resembles an advertisement in the Boston city directory by Hall & Quinby from 1868. This instrument was presumably made at this firm’s premises between 1869 and 1871. E. G. Wright joined Hall & Quinby in 1869 until his death in 1871.
