This squat modèle français E-flat cornet was offered by Gautrot ainé in catalogs as early as 1865, and was continued by Gautrot's successor Couesnon & Cie. in Paris into the twentieth century. Several French and English dealers offered this model as an inexpensive alternative, among them Emile Deplaix in Paris and Lafleur & Son in London. Dating is based on the figure “3” encircled by a grenade, indicating 1903 as the year of manufacture.
