DescriptionSilver-plated brass, single loop, main tuning slide at second (back) bow, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), bottom-sprung, alignment by one key on red-brass pistons, water key at first bow, windway 1-2-3.
The workshop of William Brown (1817-1893) was established in 1851, and was continued by his son, C. William, and two other sons. The firm operated at 2 Tracey Street, Kennington Road, between 1894 and 1911.
The design of this orchestral trumpet in F is reminiscent of 19th-century English slide trumpet design, foremost the positioning of the main tuning slide at the back bow, facing the player.
