Shank for D and crook for C.This instrument is a reconstruction of the coiled trumpet depicted in a portrait of Leipzig trumpeter Gottfried Reiche (1667-1734) by Elias Gottlob Hausmann (Museum der Geschichte der Stadt Leipzig). The reconstruction is based on a careful examination of the painting in collaboration with Herbert Heyde and by applying his theory of proportions.
