DescriptionBrass (body), nickel-silver (ferrules, bell braces), partly polished and lacquered (bell interior, valve casings and slides), satin finish (leadpipe, bell, finger buttons, bottom valve caps), applied Swarovski Crystals (colored flat-backed glass) in pink, green and white (bell, parts of tubing, finger button inlays), single loop, main tuning slide at first bow, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), top-sprung, spring inside hollow stem, alignment by two unequal lugs on spring anchor plate, nickel-silver-plated brass pistons, Amado water key at main tuning slide, trigger with pull-ring at first valve and with pull-ring and stop screw at third valve, windway 3-2-1.

Andy Taylor made this trumpet in the same year as the Utley Custom Shop trumpet (NMM 7316). He reminisced: “when this trumpet [Utley Custom Shop, NMM 7316] arrived, Joe [Utley] was over the moon with it. So I asked him on the phone where do we go from here? You know, there are these Fabergé eggs . . . ” There was a silence on the other end of the phone, after which Joe answered: “If you make it, I’ll buy it.” This is the origin of the Taylor “Fabergé” trumpet, basically a standard London model trumpet that is decorated with numerous colored glass beads of various sizes. Andy confessed: “I spent fifteen hours decorating this. One problem was the circles of the gemstones didn’t interlay with each other, because of the bell curves. It opened up how hard it is to do this decoration on an egg.”
