DescriptionThe use of beech on the head and neck points to an origin in the Saxon Vogtland, most likely Markneukirchen. This is a commercial imitation of a Lacote.

Soundboard: two-piece spruce: narrow grain
Back: two-piece plain maple cut off-the quarter: faint, narrow curl
Ribs: two-piece plain maple cut off-the quarter, divided by narrow pearwood strip
Head: figure-eight, black-painted beech; large hole drilled at upper center for hanging
Neck: black-painted beech; tapered heel
Heel cap: integral with back, painted black
Binding: none, top trim comprised of 9-ply alternating strips of brown-stained and natural hardwood, with doubled dark strips on outside edge
Fingerboard: black-painted maple; twenty brass bar frets
Nut: ebony; shallow
Bridge: black-painted maple with rectangular outline and moustaches, the ends terminating in domed ebony circles with missing eyes; pins missing; integral saddle
Tuners: six pegs, now missing
Endpin: missing
Rosette: 11-ply alternating strips of brown-stained and natural hardwood, with doubled dark strips on outside edge
Varnish: light golden; neck and head painted black
Linings: spruce
Neck block: integral with neck; foot at joint with back
End block: hardwood; half-round shape
Top braces: two tapered spruce braces above soundhole and one below; spruce bridge plate narrows and extends to edges
Back braces: four spruce back braces, tapered and set into linings
