MarkingsPainted between the embouchure hole and finger holes of the transverse flute is a red circle with yellow, red, blue, and white flowers in it (with green stems). Above the finger holes on the duct end there is some greenery and yellow, red, blue and white decoration.

DescriptionBamboo with handpainted designs in red, yellow, green, blue and white. This flute has both side-blown and end-blown mechanisms. One need only flip the instrument lengthwise to play it using the other mechanism, as the sounding length is divided by three vent holes. There is no evidence to support the presence of this type of internal duct mechanism in East Asia prior to the twentieth century. This instrument was made for the tourist trade.
