DescriptionPart of a miniature violin making presentation showing the stages of violin making, commissioned by Lothar Meisel from his friend Franz Reindl. NMM 10174 is the finished violin, and M334 is the museum number for the components.

Lothar Meisel comments that Reindl, as a Mittenwald maker, used a form to construct his violins, unlike the Meisel family, who as Klingenthal makers, built their instruments free-hand, with no form.

Back: two-piece, quarter-cut maple: narrow curl, descending from center joint
Ribs: quarter-cut maple: narrow curl, angled to right on bass side, angled to left on treble side

Varnish: light brown with antiquing comprised of blacking
