DescriptionBrass; garland with serrated upper edge with scallop-shell decoration and floral engravings; Nuremberg rim, rolled wire with foliate bud pattern; ferrules with impressed diagonal stripes and tendrils on dotted background.
Although this trumpet underwent major repairs, particularly at the bell, most parts are original. It is very similar to two other trumpets by Kodisch at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg (MI 162 and MI 163). Among the similarities are the ferrules with identical, impressed stripes of a tendril pattern, similar bell rim wire, scallop shells, some resemblance in the bell engraving, and Kodisch's characteristically wide bell flare.
