DescriptionBrass, nickel-brass trim, two-piece, single loop, seven keys, lowest key open (regulating screw), all others closed.
The maker of this keyed bugle, F. Wagner, is not otherwise recorded. The ferrule shape, the acorn and oak-leaf engravings on the garland, and the shape of the key touchpieces, particularly the “flamingo style” fourth key, suggest a provenance from Saxony (the Vogtland in particular). F. Wagner is not recorded in Markneukirchen but could be an ancestor of the Wagner family of instrument makers in Dresden.
