[sic]DescriptionFrench type, single-action, diatonic piano accordion with a rectangular-box-shaped, wooden case. The treble end-frame and the bass hand-frame rim are scalloped. The treble end-frame is of rosewood-veneered maple, with floral maple and green-dyed maple inlay. Treble keys are mounted on beech block painted in imitation of rosewood. Bass keys mounted on black-painted hardwood frame. Steel finger bar/rail mounted on treble key block. The bellows have six-folds, black leather reinforcements at edges, and are covered with silver paper decorated with burgundy, green, and blue patterns.
The instrument has 19 treble keys made of maple with mother-of-pearl touchpieces (some missing), arranged in two rows. The round key pallets are exposed and have brass shafts, and mother-of-pearl covers (one pallet missing). The treble side also has two long, pivoted-lever, chord keys mounted on the handbar, which are made of brass. The bass side has two button-operated, brass bass keys with round, brass pallets, plus a large air valve key and pallet, also made of brass and decoratively embossed details. Reeds: 2 sets of treble reeds, 19 of each blow and draw (bisonorous), and 2 sets of bass reeds, also bisonorous.
This accordion was well traveled. It was made by a French maker and distributed by an English company before being sold at a general store in Lehi City, Utah.
