DescriptionA reform-lute devised by the Cologne violin maker Georg Stŏssel by 1915 and used for hiking and youth clubs to replace the more difficult to play and more expensive guitar-lute. After receiving the German patent 296436 in 1915 Stŏssel tried to secure further manufacturing right (see signature). Built in several sizes, the present instrument is the smallest model. The Stŏssel or Mando lutes were in use at places (many in Germany) by World War II.
