DescriptionTop: softwood plywood: top layer grain runs parallel to strings; one nail through top into each corner block; one nail through top on each side into brace just below lower corners
Back: softwood plywood: top layer grain runs perpendicular to strings; one nail through top into each corner block; one nail through top on each side into brace just below lower corners
Ribs: galvanized sheet steel; bent around corners; red-painted hardwood block with chamfered corners over lower ribs at endpin, affixed with two nails
Head and neck: oak; scroll has ears but no volutes; groove on top of scroll and upper half of pegbox; very wide neck heel
Arching: none
Edging: not scooped; chamfered edges
Purfling: none
Varnish: red paint
Fingerboard: black-painted pine or spruce; very thick
Nut: hardwood painted black over red
Tailpiece: black-painted pine or spruce; saddle does not fully extend to edges; very thick
Tailgut: black-rubber-covered multiple-strand copper electrical wire
Pegs: nickel-plated steel machine tuners with black bakelite heads; plates stamped with two abstract Maltese crosses and interlocking chain border
Saddle: hardwood painted black over red
