Back: one-piece, quarter-cut maple: prominent, very narrow curl, ascending from treble to bass; scored mark near endpin indicating center position
Ribs: two-piece, quarter-cut maple: very faint, very narrow curl; first bent to guitar-shape, then carved to a curved shape on the inside and outside, and linings added
Head and neck: maple: medium curl; channel in neck at fingerboard position
Pegbox and scroll: edges rounded; reeded rather than Fluted, with central ridge
Edging: edges tapered and flush with ribs
Varnish: medium brown; slightly shaded; later medium red-brown varnish on scroll
Fingerboard: ebony; very slightly wedge-shaped
Nut: ebony
Tailpiece: ebony; decoratively molded saddle carved rather than inlaid; face carved with image of cherub playing the violin
