DescriptionThe quality of Japanese guitars began to improve dramatically in the 1970s and 1980s. Consequently, Fender began moving some production to Japan in 1982. The Squier Contemporary Stratocaster was made by FujiGen Gakki in partnership with Fender and its quality matched or exceeded American-made Fenders of that time. The Contemporary Stratocaster line updated the look of the classic 1950s design and offered new pickup options.
