Back: two-piece, quarter-cut maple: narrow curl, descending from center joint

Head and neck: maple: faint, narrow curl; inside of pegbox stained black
Arching: full, symmetrical arching rises sharply at edge and flattens out at center
Varnish: dark red, staining varnish; varnish removed from edges
Fingerboard: ebony
Nut: none on violin
Tailpiece: ebony; later maple saddle; saddle does not fully extend to edges
Tailgut: red gut
Pegs: three black-varnished pearwood; one ebony with mother-of-pearl eye
