DescriptionBrass, nickel-silver (garland, ferrules, valve parts), double loop with small coil forming the second and third bows, no tuning slide, three mechanical-linkage rotary valves (1, ½, 1½), internal stop with two cork buffers on inner cover plate, crescent-shaped opening for drive pin, clock-spring return with ratchet-and-pawl tension adjustment, windway 3-2-1.
Brass mouthpiece with narrow rounded rim, funnel-shaped, trumpet-size shank. Knurled decoration on mouthpiece matches ferrule decoration; therefore the mouthpiece may be original to this trumpet.
The rotary valve of Joseph Felix Riedl, patented in Vienna in 1835, is the basis of the modern rotary valve.
