DescriptionDonna Curry, the donor, recounts the acquisition and use of this concert ukulele as follows:

“My second ever uke. Bought this ukulele from one of my commuting Lute students who visited often, bringing along extra ukes so we could laugh and play Lute music duets on them as a form of musical humor. Turned out to be rather comely, very relaxing."

Heel cap: none; heel set in from back
Binding: imitation tortoise-shell celluloid on top and back
Fretboard: rosewood; 12 nickel-silver T frets; small ivoroid dots behind 5th and 10th frets; two small ivoroid dots behind 7th fret
Nut: ebony
Bridge: mahogany; ebony saddle; strings fit in notches on lower edge
Tuners: later internally geared pegs with black plastic exterior
Rosette: five-ply ivory and black plastic strip trim set in from edge
Finish: clear
Linings: kerfed mahogany
Neck block: mahogany; beveled corners
End block: mahogany; beveled corners
Top braces: two spruce transverse braces with tapered ends above and below soundhole; three spruce fan braces with tapered ends; wide spruce bridge plate

Endpin: later decoratively turned boxwood with black pin
