DescriptionKoAloha was founded by Alvin Okami in Honolulu in 1995. This 6-string tenor ukulele, also known as a guilele or kiku, combines aspects of the guitar and ukulele.

Stringing: four nylon strings
Soundboard: two-piece, book-matched koa
Back: two-piece, book-matched koa
Sides: one-piece, quarter-cut koa
Head: mahogany with chamfered upper edge; integral with neck
Neck: mahogany; integral with head; Spanish style heel of separate piece of mahogany

Fretboard: rosewood; 20 nickel-silver T-frets; green abalone (paua) dots behind 5th, 7th, 10th, and 12th frets; bone side dot behind 7th fret
Nut: gray TUSQ synthetic
Bridge: rosewood tie bridge with with gray TUSQ synthetic saddle
Tuners: two sets of worm gear tuners with chrome-plated steel hardware, decoratively embossed plates and translucent pearloid heads
Endpin: decoratively turned koa
Soundhole: subtly triangular with rounded corners, called "musubi" by the brand after Hawaiian rice and Spam sushi

Neck block: narrow mahogany with chamfered corners
End block: narrow mahogany with chamfered corners
Top braces: short softwood above soundhole, not extending to edges; laminate brace fitted through center bout, extending around top, back, and sides in one piece; koa bridge plate extending to sides and koa graft along center joint from center brace to end block, divided by and flush with bridge plate
