Because it is played with a slide, it allowed visitors without guitar-playing skills a chance to experience an electric guitar. All electric components have clear covers to be able to see what they are made of, including the copper coils of the pickups. There are two single coil pickups, one at the bridge and one at the fretboard along with a double coil pickup in the middle, for visitors to hear the difference in tone between pickup types and positions. Its maker, Josh Rieck, is a guitar builder based in Sioux Falls, who graduated with a degree in double bass from the University of South Dakota and from the guitar repair and building program at Southeast Minnesota Technical College, Red Wing, Minnesota.
