ProvenanceAccording to the donor, William Winkle used this tuba at Huron High School (1954-1958) and Huron College (1958-1962), including performances during that time in the South Dakota All State Band and the Blue Jeans Philharmonic in Estes Park, Colorado. By about 1965, owned by Gale Wesley Peppers, proprietor of The Music Center (1961-1994), Huron, South Dakota. About 2022, following Wesley's death, gift of Donna Peppers to William Winkle. In 2024, upon William's death, his wife Carola contacted the NMM about donation. It is uncertain if Winkle owned the tuba as a young man, or if it was loaned from the schools or The Music Center.
