Description#1 of a limited edition of 150 saxophones of the LA-42T Presidential Model
Presentation model specifically designed to honor President Bill Clinton, inaugurated in January 1993.
Lacquered brass, colored red, white and blue, with white, five-pointed stars on bell. According to advertisement for saxophone, this model features “New copper tone resonator pads by Prestini, special tempered blue steel needle spring, custom wood case with solid brass hardware, hand finished mother-of-pearl inlays, [and] leather-trimmed luxury case cover.” The colors of the sax are described as “fire red metallic, diamond metallic white, and
reflex blue.”
ProvenanceGift of President William "Bill" Clinton, Washington, DC, May 16, 1994, after it was given to him by Peter J. LaPlaca, CEO/President of L.A. Sax Company, Barrington, Illinois, during a ceremony in the Oval Office, also attended by University of South Dakota Vice President John Hilpert, South Dakota Congressman Tim Johnson, and South Dakota Senator Larry Pressler.
