DescriptionSilver-plated brass, mother-of-pearl finger buttons, single loop, main tuning slide (first bow), rotary-valve quick-change to A (before valve segment), fixed leadpipe, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), no valve slides, top-sprung, spring inside hollow stem, alignment by two unequal lugs on spring anchor plate, pistons nickel-plated brass, single water keys (first bow, third-valve loop), windway 3-2-1.

Cornetist Ernst Albert Couturier received several patents for conical bore brasswind instruments. The patent stamps on this cornet refer to US Patent no. 1,073,592 from September 23, 1913, for conical bore, and US Patent no. 52,473 from September 24, 1918, for an ornamental trumpet design. This instrument with narrow cornet-size mouthpiece receiver, otherwise, follows the trumpet design from 1918.

The valves have no slides in order to avoid interrupting the conical bore. However, the external diameter of the valve loops suggests some cylindrical tuning.
