DescriptionBrass, German silver, circular bow, double loop, tuning slide at narrow second bow, fixed leadpipe of German-silver, three side-action (lever under) string-operated rotary valves (1, ½, 1½), stop arm, spiral-spring return.

Possibly original brass mouthpiece, engraved G ... A.

This cornet is not signed by the maker. The initials are most likely those of a previous owner. The engraving style on the garland, in particular the form of the initials, G. J. A., suggests this cornet may have been made in Germany based on an American model; or, made by a German immigrant in the United States. The same initials are also engraved on the mouthpiece.
