This instrument is a twentieth-century development of the natural trumpet, not a faithful copy of a historic model. The model is a 2095 Signature C/D Natural Trumpet of the 2000 Custom Signature series. It is made from modern B-flat trumpet components (tapering leadpipe for a modern trumpet mouthpiece, and a modern B-flat trumpet bell).

DEG Music Products was founded in 1964 by Donald E. Getzen, after his father’s company had been sold to Harold M. Knowlton. The “Donald E. Getzen Signature” label referred to professional grade brasses.
