DescriptionBrass; four coils; garland with serrated upper edge and small scallop shells, applied cast angel's heads; tuning slide at leadpipe with wing-screw.
Inspired by the coiled trumpet shown in a portrait of Leipzig trumpeter Gottfried Reiche (1667-1734). However, this instrument has a larger angle between leadpipe and bell than shown in the portrait, to prevent the bell from being too close to the player's ear.
