DescriptionBrass, double loop, first loop formed as coil, telescopic tuning slide (lost) at leadpipe, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), bottom-sprung, alignment by one key on piston (nickel-plated brass), single water key, windway 1-2-3.
This instrument is listed as “BI Alto”, Class A10" in the firm archives of Distin & Co. in London (Horniman Museums and Gardens). According to the firm's stock books, it was sold to the New York branch of Boosey & Co. in 1872.
