DescriptionBrass, mother-of-pearl finger button, two parts: small single-loop leadpipe/valve segment; separate straight bell, tuning slide at end of valve segment to go into bell with ligature screw, one Périnet valve (lowering pitch by a whole tone), top-sprung, spring inside hollow stem, alignment by two unequal plastic lugs on spring anchor plate, nickel-plated brass pistons.
Straight trumpet designed for the "Trombe egiziane" parts, announcing the entrance of Egyptian soldiers in Act II of Guiseppe Verdi’s opera, Aïda. John Webb designed this particular model with narrow bell for performances of Aïda at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, from June 16 to July 22, 1994.
