The trade name “American Command” stands for the American Heritage Cooperation in Anaheim, California. This distributor offered two-piston G soprano bugles in 1976 that were built at the Benge facility in Burbank, California, led by Zigmant Kanstul at the time. Kanstul was instrumental in developing G-F bugles with a whole-tone piston. G-F bugles were allowed by the American Legion Supervisory committee to be used in Drum and Bugle Corps contests since 1968. After Drum Corps International (DVI) was founded in 1971, it allowed the use of two-valve bugles in 1975.
