DescriptionBrass, water key and finger buttons nickel plated, double loop, main tuning slide at second bow with wing screw (lost) for low pitch B-flat and high pitch A (both marked), fixed leadpipe, three Périnet valves (1, ½, 1½), top-sprung, spring outside stem, alignment by one key on nickel-plated brass pistons, single water key at first bow, windway 3-2-1.
B & F stands for the firm of Bohland & Fuchs in Graslitz, Bohemia. The stamp AUSTRIA on the receiver ferrule indicates that the instrument was manufactured before 1918, when Bohemia was under Austrian rule.
The construction of the U-shaped main tuning slide with ligature screw to fix its position for different pitches (B-flat low pitch and A high pitch) is slightly unusual.
