Back: two-piece, quarter-cut maple: prominent, irregular, narrow curl, descending from center joint
Ribs: quarter-cut maple: medium-to-narrow curl, angled to right on bass side, angled to left on treble side
Head and neck: maple: narrow curl; inside of pegbox stained dark brown; varnish sanded from neck and removed from scroll chamfers after application
Arching: low and flat
Varnish: medium orange
Fingerboard: black-stained dark tropical hardwood
Nut: ebony
Tailpiece: ebony; baroque model by Andrew Dipper; drilled string holes; no saddle; lower end with rounded outline and beveled upper face
Tailgut: plain gut; passes through holes drilled in face of tailpiece
Pegs: four rosewood; later
