DescriptionSilver-plated brass, single loop, double-cone leadpipe, main tuning slide at first bow, three mechanical-linkage rotary valves (1, ½, 1½), horseshoe stop, Cologne spiral spring return (Kölner Spiralfederdruckwerk), single water key at main tuning slide, trigger with thumb hook at first valve (possibly later addition), windway 1-2-3.
The new Cologne model trumpet by Josef Monke (1882-1965) was available in B-flat, C, high D and high E-flat until the 1980’s. After Monke's death, the firm was continued by his daughter, Liselotte, as a company with limited liability until 1997. A characteristic of the new Cologne model is the spiral spring return with T-lever touchpieces.
The purpose of the crudely joined short tubing at the third valve slide is unclear.
