DescriptionBrass, silver trim, chrome slide; garland with floral decoration in repoussé; tuning slide at leadpipe, fixed with wing screw; long slide at back bow with one male and one female slide.
Bent brass tuning shank; silver mouthpiece stamped "WEBB."
Reconstruction of a flat trumpet after James Talbot's manuscript (ca. 1690-1700) at Christ Church Library in Oxford (Mus 1187). The tuning slide at the leadpipe is inspired by a screw adjustment, suggested in Roger North's Cursery Notes on Music (ca. 1698-1703).
This type of flat trumpet was used by Henry Purcell in The Libertine and the Funeral March for Queen Mary.
