This cornet model was advertised as "Stratton's Light Action, French Piston Valve, C Cornet" in a catalog of John F. Stratton & Son, Manufacturers of the Celebrated Stratton Band Instruments, from about 1889. The model was delivered with B-shank and A crook. The unusual shepherd's crook main tuning slide appears to be a later replacement, while the original C main tuning slide and A crook are missing.
