Original gold-plated tuning shank with inlaid glass jewels, faintly engraved “BI”
The Ultimatum model is based on a variation of U.S. patent no. 261,082 from July 11, 1882.
Signed by James H. Gardner, Conn's first master engraver. The presentation inscription refers to Ephrem Mandeville (1864-1931) of French-Canadian descent, a mill worker, overseer and foreman at the Manville cotton mill near Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
