DescriptionReddish tropical hardwood (rosewood?) body in four sections. Simple system keywork in nickel silver. Originally had four keys (D#, F, G#, and B-flat) mounted in wooden blocks and a turned ring, but only the D# and G# keys survive. The key heads are round, with a round boss in the center where the key shank attaches to the head. Nickel silver ferrules. This instrument was probably made by either William A. Pond & Co. or Hugh Cottier, and distributed by Oliver Ditson & Company.
